Willow

Willow is a purebred weimaraner (not registered, due to being a BLUE weim.).  She is up to date on all shots, is spayed, and microchipped.  She was born on June 21,1998. purchased from hunting stock weims in Union, Oregon, the John Poppy farm.  She is very elegant looking, and gets lots of attention on walks!

Willow has been, and still is, a fine hunting dog, with a sleek build and energy.  She loves to walk, and walks well on a leash. Michael calls her back with a loud whistle, if hunting.  She is extremely affectionate, never having shown any aggression toward people - family or strangers.  She is standoffish with other dogs, but is able to become used to them after a while, usually just ignoring them.  She prefers people to other dogs.

She has never been ill, other than having a yeast infex in the ear one time;  She is a bit hard of hearing.

The reason we wish to find her another home is this:  She has a terrible fear of thunder, and of fireworks.  (Oddly enough, she is NOT afraid of gunfire, when hunting!)  We lived on a farm in Oregon, and then outside of town in Alaska, and there is no thunder at all in the Anchorage area, so this didn't become a problem until we moved into town in Ogden.  She runs away blindly if she hears thunder, and the neighbors have brought her back several times.  Tying her doesn't help, and she also has a fine garden house with a dog door, but she only wants to be in the house when a storm comes.  She is housed with a lab who is NOT afraid of these things, but this does not help her.

Because we have severe allergy problems, we are not able to have her in, although she does well inside.  In Alaska she had a heated garage, and wore coats outside.  She IS housebroken, but can have an occasional accident if frightened by the above sounds.  But she isn't frightened, if with people.

Willow wants nothing more than to be petted and cuddled, and would do this all day if possible!  We have never seen a more affectionate dog.  We love her, but we think that she needs to be indoors  - at least during storms/fireworks) - with affectionate people who are set up to do this.  We think this would be best for her.
